The Music Player HUD

MINIMAA features a dynamic, minimal media player that integrates directly with your system’s playback services. Often referred to by the community as the “Musical Bed,” this HUD element gives you control without the need for large widgets.

Enabling the Player

The media player HUD is reactive—it only appears when a supported app (Spotify, YouTube Music, etc.) is active.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Home Screen > Media Feedback.
  2. Enable Display Media HUD.
  3. Active Player Detection: Ensure MINIMAA has Notification Access enabled in your Android system settings so it can read playback metadata.

Alignment & Position

You can choose where the player sits relative to your other HUD elements:

  • Bottom Stack: The player appears directly above the navigation bar or at the bottom edge of the screen.
  • Center Focus: The player is docked just below the central clock/calendar chip.
  • Dynamic Bed: The player expands into a full-width “wave” at the bottom of the screen.

Configure these in Settings > Home Screen > Media Feedback > Player Alignment.

The “Musical Bed” Effect

If you are using the Digital Detox zones, you can set the Media HUD to use a “Blurred Bed” effect. This takes the album art and creates a subtle, glowing aura behind the player controls, making them easier to target while maintaining a premium aesthetic.

[!NOTE] The Media HUD will automatically hide itself 10 seconds after playback is paused to maintain the minimalist look of your home screen.
