We were thrilled to see MINIMAA featured in a recent HowToMen “Great Android Apps” showcase. Since the video went live, our inbox and Reddit community have been flooded with the same question: “How do I make it look exactly like that?”

In that video, the setup used was intentionally “Pro”—leveraging some of our more advanced and experimental settings. Here is how you replicate it.

The “Everything HUD” Layout

The HowToMen setup utilized a layout we call the Everything HUD, where all system info is docked to the right-hand side of the screen.

1. Alignment: Go to Settings > Home Screen > Vertical Alignment and set it to Right.
2. Date Format: Use the “Long ISO” date format (YYYY-MM-DD) for that technical, modular look.
3. Experimental Battery: In Settings > Experimental, enable the Circular Battery Chip.

The Icon Strategy

The video prominently featured the Nothing Phone icon style. Even if you aren’t on a Nothing device, you can achieve this:

1. Download a dot-matrix icon builder or pack (like Nothing Adaptive Icons).
2. In MINIMAA, go to Settings > Icons and apply the pack.
3. The Pro Tip: Enable “Uniform Icon Sizing” to force all icons into a perfect grid, preventing that “jagged” look common with mixed icon packs.

Final Touches: Gestures

To keep the home screen as clean as possible, the setup used Swipe Gestures for common actions:

• Swipe Up: Open Search.
• Swipe Down: Expand Notifications.
• Double Tap: Open the Detox Zone.

By hiding the search bar and status bar entirely and relying on these gestures, you achieve the ultra-minimalist “pure glass” feel that made the video so compelling.
