Privacy Policy for MINIMAA: Minimalist Launcher

Minimaa is built with a "Privacy First" philosophy. We believe your data belongs to you, and your phone should be a tool for focus, not a source of surveillance.

1. Zero Data Collection

Minimaa does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

  • No Analytics: We do not use Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or any other tracking tools.
  • No Crash Reporting: We do not use Crashlytics or Sentry. We value your privacy over automated bug reports.
  • No Advertising: Minimaa has no ad network integrations of any kind.

2. Technical Guarantee: Offline by Design

Minimaa is physically incapable of sending your data anywhere because it does not have the INTERNET permission declared in its Android Manifest.

  • All processing happens locally on your device's CPU.
  • Your settings, app lists, contacts, calendar data, and usage statistics never leave your phone — there is no server for them to go to.
  • This also means Backup & Restore exports a file that stays on your device unless you personally choose to move it elsewhere.

3. Permission Usage

We only request permissions that are essential for launcher functionality and focus-related features. Every permission is used exclusively for local logic, disclosed to you in-app before it's requested, and revocable at any time in Android Settings.

  • Accessibility Service (BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE): Powers Mindful Pause, Web Detox, Adult Block, Double-Tap to Lock, and motion gesture navigation. Used to detect the active app package name and browser URL to trigger a focus blocker, and to perform system actions (Back, Home, Lock Screen) for your configured gestures. We do not read keystrokes, passwords, or screen content beyond this.
  • Notification Access (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE): Powers the Glance notifications feed, music playback controls on your home screen, and Notification Shield (muting pings from blocked apps). Notification content is never stored or uploaded.
  • Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS): Powers Mindful Pause detection and Screen Time / App Usage stats. Calculated and stored on-device only.
  • Contacts (READ_CONTACTS): Powers contact search in the app drawer, the Contact Card widget, and Direct Dialing of favorite contacts. Never synced or transmitted anywhere.
  • Calendar (READ_CALENDAR, WRITE_CALENDAR): Powers the Agenda view and calendar widget on your home screen, showing today's events locally. Write access is used only if you choose to sync a Minimaa task as a calendar entry; nothing is written without that explicit action.
  • Call Phone (CALL_PHONE): Lets you call a favorite contact directly from the search bar or app drawer.
  • Biometric (USE_BIOMETRIC): Unlocks Private Space using your fingerprint or face. Biometric data itself is handled entirely by Android's system biometric APIs — Minimaa never sees or stores it.
  • Activity Recognition (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION): Reads the hardware pedometer for local step-count tracking. We do not track location, sleep, or any other health data.
  • Post Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Delivers Pomodoro session alerts and task reminders.
  • Schedule Exact Alarm (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Ensures task reminders and Pomodoro alerts fire at the exact time requested.
  • Receive Boot Completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Restores your pending task reminders automatically after a phone restart.
  • Query All Packages (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES): A standard launcher permission used to build your app drawer list.
  • Set Wallpaper (SET_WALLPAPER): Sets a pure black background for certain themes.
  • Expand Status Bar (EXPAND_STATUS_BAR): Lets swipe-down-for-notifications open your notification panel from the home screen.
  • Request Delete Packages (REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES): Lets you uninstall an app directly from its long-press menu in the drawer.

4. In-App Purchases

Minimaa offers an optional "Support Development" purchase, processed entirely by Google Play Billing. Payment details are handled by Google — Minimaa never sees or stores your payment information, and this transaction does not require or use the internet permission within the app itself.

5. Third-Party Services

Minimaa does not include any third-party SDKs, advertisements, or cloud integrations of any kind.

6. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit any user data to any third party, because we do not collect any in the first place.

7. Children's Privacy

Minimaa does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13, consistent with Section 1 above.

8. Changes to This Policy

If our permission usage ever changes, this policy will be updated and the "Last Updated" date revised accordingly.
